ECE Enrollment Update

At ECE we understand many families need child care during COVID-19. A separate application is required for each child. We genuinely want to serve new families. To be considered for any opening, you must register your child in the ECE Applicant Pool – Affiliated or Community. If you would like information about additional programs, please refer to the Child Care Resources page or email ece@ece.ucla.edu to inquire about space availability.

While new families are welcome to apply, there are many unknowns due to the ever-changing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic in the L.A. County area. In-person tours are temporarily suspended as we must limit all non-essential visitors to our centers. Virtual tours are provided to families who receive an official enrollment offer.

Enrollment offers continue for summer and fall enrollment. ECE is acclimating to public health and safety directives; social distancing; using PPE and maintaining thorough sanitization protocols. ECE abides by the latest California State Licensing requirements, and follows guidelines from the County of Los Angeles - Department of Public Health (LACDPH), National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the California Department of Education (CDE) and California Department of Social Services (CDSS). Updates will be posted on this web site as more information is available.

Applicant Pool Forms

Join the ECE Affiliated Applicant Pool by completing either the Faculty-Staff Applicant Pool Form or Student Applicant Pool Form. To join the Non-Affiliated Applicant Pool complete the Community Applicant Pool Form. A separate application and $85 non-refundable processing fee is required for each child. Note: The $85 processing fee is waived for student families. All applicants receive a confirmation upon completion of each online application.

Age Groups and Fees

Monthly Fees Effective July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024

Fees are based on the age of the child. Rates may change with 30-day advance notice. UCLA Early Care and Education offers only full-time child care.

If your child's birthdate falls on and after the 16th of the month, once they turn 24 months and/or 36 months, the next lower monthly fee rate applies.

Annual fee rate changes are effective July 1; increasing approximately 3 percent. The new fees are announced at least 30 days in advance, or once the ECE budget is approved.

Student and Staff Family Fee Assistance

UCLA Early Care and Education provides child care fee assistance for families with at least one parent enrolled as a full-time UCLA student. In two-parent families, the second parent must work or also be enrolled in school in order to demonstrate need for care.

The ECE Endowed Child Chair Scholarship program provides subsidies for UCLA Students and Staff identified as lower-income families. This funding will continue for the 2022-2023 year.

Immunizations Required

Effective immediately, all children enrolled at UCLA Early Care and Education are required to be current on all immunizations as outlined in the January 2016 State of California Department of Public Health "Parents' Guide to Immunizations Required for Child Care or Preschool" schedule IMM-222. Exceptions may be granted based on written advice from the child's pediatrician.

In addition, per UC policy, children who are age-eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine are required to be immunized as of March 1, 2022 (ages five and older) or within 90 days of the Emergency Use Authorization approval of the vaccine for a given age group. Exemption requests are available and will be considered based on medical and religious reasons.
